Ahh yes, you. Everyone reading this, You deserve a little reminder to take care of YOU. Iām gonna give you a few ideas to brush up on your self-love.
So here are a few reminders to make you understand how important is loving yourself and taking care of your self. Theyāre in no particular order. In fact, mix and match all you want, but donāt forget to take time for these imperial parts of living mindfully, happily and taking great care of YOU.
Yoga
(Or Pilates, Or gym, Or Walking, or some type of body, mind, spirit exercise.) The gym is great. Running, superb! I Personally take time to nurture my body with yoga and a strengthening, calming workout.Ā The effect:Ā My core is strong, so I feel great. And I get to melt away all the stress or thoughts that are not that great. And if I fall while practicing head stands, I fall. Iām reminded to simply lift myself back up. Yoga works forĀ Self-Love.
Practice Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a natural quality that we all have. Itās available to us in every moment if we take the time to appreciate it. When we practiceĀ mindfulness, weāre practicing the art of creating space for ourselvesāspace to think, space to breathe, space between ourselves and our reactions. This will make you become more aware of where you are and what youāre doing, without becoming overly reactive or overwhelmed by whatās going on around you

Iām not talking about your emails, or your to-do list for the next day in bed at night. Iām talking about reading. (And notĀ OK! Magazine.) Iām talking about investing in great books that build your sense of self, character, confidence, charisma and all the ways in which you can become a better you. The effect:Ā Youāre smarter and wiser. You begin using new words and feel refreshed and accomplished for completing each book.
Travel
I am talking about real travel. Its a beautiful gift you can give to yourself this new year. Personally I think something changes in me everytime I travel, a positive change.
I know itās hard to plan travel for some people or for especially our busy Moms but, even if itās just a walk to the park to sit on a bench, or even to try a new coffee. Do it! Ā The effect:Ā Serenity. You get this sense of beauty and wonder when youāre sitting someplace different, watching others and enjoying some quiet time or even exploring new places.
Change something about yourself
Your earrings, shoes, your belt. Make it different. Stop the routine. Ok, routines are nice. I admit, but jazz it up and surprise yourself with something that sparks a new light on who you are. I coloured my hair a week ago. I found an image on Pinterest, brought it to the stylist at a salon and voila. I feel different, liberated and confident. Honestly, it sounds a little odd but trust me something changes by small changes. So, think about what you can change, because you deserve that spark.Ā The effect:Ā Youāll amaze yourself when you look in the mirror and realize how slight changes can lift your spirit and boost your energy levels.
Face your fears
It is human nature to avoid emotions that scare us. Ā Who wants to walk directly into what promises to be a painful experience? Except that by continually avoiding looking at the āinner youā within, you become hostage to the monster. Typically this involves hiding from any potential stressor that might cause upset and engaging in endless distractions. Thus you are also hiding from potential challenges that can lead to growth and joy. Plus, you canāt hide forever from fear. Itās going to strike, despite your best efforts to suppress it. And it is likely that it will strike at a time when you most need emotional equanimity. Here are someĀ tipsĀ on how to face your fears:
Become 1 with your flaws
Ah yes, the hardest one perhaps, but the most rewarding. Life is about loving the fall just as much as the rise. Thatās what makes the end a journey, not a destination.Ā The effect:Ā Youāll enjoy being around yourself more when you can forgive yourself for messing up. You may even get a strut in your step. Forgiving yourself is even better at your work or your personal decisions. Hey⦠this is life. And youāre better for your mistakes. Who is perfect? Ah ha. No oneā¦
Thereās obviously a ton more self-love tips I could give as I live them daily such as Find Gratitude, Be grateful, Shop (Yes, I said it), Exfoliate, Eat healthy, Aromatherapy, Buy yourself A Gift, Enjoy Icecream, Get yourself a Coffee, Listen to your favourite song, Enjoy music, Sit in a garden, throw a rock in a pond, Enjoy a spa day, watch your favourite movie, express love, Sleep when needed and many more things can be done that make you feel happy. All of these things can equate to greater self-love and itās so valuable that you find the time to nurture your soul. Youāll be even better in your personal and professional life, when you take the time to do the above and more.
Making resolutions is something we have been doing since years, keeping them or breaking them has also been a part of it ( yes we all break them) But, The Power of SELF LOVE is something which we all should start as its the only way to find a positive approach to love others too.
